    ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

    ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Fossie's article on Arnold and the Olyroos; has he got it right, for once?

See what you think of the article below written by "Mr World Clarsh";

http://www.smh.com.au/news/football/arnold-leads-australia-on-anotherfailed-campaign/2008/08/16/1218307312575.html

Judging by the sentiments in Bay 11 at NISC on Friday Night, I suspect some people may agree with Fossie.

Too soft IMHO, he doesnt quite call for Arnold to be sent to Iran with an "I hate Islam" t-shirt and covered in pig fat.

GVE must be given that job ASAP

One of my favourite chants from Friday night was the short lived, but passionate, "Arnold Out" chant.

Well, considering that Foster and Arnold were Socceroos teammates and at Spirit together, that article is a big call from him. But the overall out cry over the Olyroos selection and the way they played has made it obvious, even to the likes of Foster, that Arnold can't be saved.

Arnold's greatest malady to himself (besides the obvious of poor game strategy and selections) has been the way he presents himself (he could be dressed in a very expensive suit and still look scruffy, and his hair looks like one of those $10 haircut jobs that they offer at the nursing homes), his on air personna, and the lack of self confidence which engenders a lack of respect from others. Also, he has to carry the baggage from the old NSL-Soccer Australia days when he was one of their darling boys, and a past Assistant Coach under Cranky Frankie. It's no wonder that someone like Kewell may not want to have a thing to do with him.

I actually agree with Fozzie most of the time but not always (donning flame proof suit right now). Yes Arnold's selection of the squad was wrong and the tactics were wrong, but our players are not technically good enough to be serious medal contenders at any age level.

Every national team that plays us has simple tactics. Pressure us at the back and don't give us time on the ball and we'll turn over possession. It happened at the Olympics and happens at senior level. We are techically not good enough to play the ball out under pressure and in tight situations. Fozzie has been saying this for a long time and he is right.

Australian Football supporters in general have an unrealistic view of our place in world Football. The facts are we have not prodeced one seriously good world class player ever. Bozza was the closest. Until we start producing players that are regular starters for the Real Madrids, Barcelonas, Milans, Man Utds of the world we cannot hope to have a shot at the World Cup or under age world championships.

I know we have started our youth development overhaul but it's going to take a long time, minimum of 10-15 years. That's if the programs are good enough. Time will tell.

Thats a fair post and TBH I dont think any of us see Aust teams challenging the likes of Italy/Argentina anytime soon.

however, we do expect them to punch their weight.

We should have won the Asian championship and a well coached/picked squad would have at least put up a fight atthe Olympics.
