Does the 2 week break in the midst of the finals cruel the momentum and/or devalue the worth in the public eye? Semis are historically are time of excitement in any of our sports, with both public and media hype at it's highest, casual fans being swept up in the occasion and the general anticipation after a long season.
In the midst of this anticipation, is it smart to risk putting a dampener on the momentum by asking/expecting people to go and sit in the corner and hold on to the excitement while the finals are postponed for two weeks to do something else?
Personally, i think it's a big ask of a fickle public and casual fans, the ones we rely on for big crowds in semis, to expect the level of interest to continue and with a risk the momentum will cool. On the same note i think the international breaks in the aleague calender also causes a loss of momentum in the public mind. But that's another matter.
I'm aware of the requirements to play the socceroo game, but might it have been advisable to arrange the seasons aleague schedule to avoid a break in the seasons biggest public event, if possible?
