Federici, Vidosic, Oar, Ruka, all opting to stay with their clubs to cement positions/long term development apparently. This bodes well for our future and is fine with me.
North seems to be most Australians biggest disappointment. I understand. He certainly seems nothing special at HAL level, and with players like Thwaite or Devere, or even Leijer and Milicevic around it certainly does make you scratch your head a bit... However to be fair on Osieck, North has always done quite well on an international level and is fairly versatile at the back compared to some others and also quicker than all of the other HAL players I have listed...
For me the biggest disappointment is not having David Williams included. Super talent.
(Would have preferred HO dropped North or McKain for his inclusion )
Kruse has done very well this season, but with better players around him I think Williams would outshine Kruse and in general play for mine has always done so. But you can't argue with equal top scorer. However long term Williams has a much better work rate and a wonderful spirit. A player who never goes missing and works all over the entire park.
The only good thing if Fury go under is that Williams will move to a club where his career will more likely benefit.
But anyhow glad we have Kruse and Burns in the squad for a bit of pace and some adventure up front.
Also happy to see Kilkenny and Spiro in there - and think McKay deserved his call up.
Some are saying its rubbish, but personally I think it's a pretty good squad. Though only time will tell.
My biggest concerns really are lack of cover at LB. Especially now Gulums gone to Turkey apparently...
So if Carney goes out...??
Wilkshire to LB, Emmo to RB, Garcia to RM I guess it would likely play out...?
Personally think Rose would have been of more use to the squad than McKain for this reason.
And also we seem a bit light on in the winger department to me?
Anyhow. REALLY looking forward to it.
