Discussion of parking tickets on 6th February

Hey all...

Last night i went to park in our ususal spot on the grass under Brian McGowan. It was about 7.40 and Gosford City Council had one Ranger ute there, 4 rangers out and every single car from behind the light tower on the western side through to the opposite the mobil heading west along CC HWY, had been booked.

This is a Dog act by GCC :redcard:. If anyone got booked last night, email me or PM me. I myself did not get booked, but i am happy to fight for anyone who did. I have drafted a letter to our local print media as well as one for GCC :redcard:.

All the no stopping signs went up only a few home games ago, and are used merely as a tool for GCC to raise some revenue whenever the stadium is in use.

In a single word - it is WRONG!!!

They have spunked a lot of money on dodgy CDO funds and need ratepayers to cover the cost.

Madly trying to avoid the scandal but I hear it is a lot of $$$$

if you park in a spot that's not a parking lot, you'll get a fine (assuming a ranger's around). just because there's not a no parking sign or whatnot doesn't mean you're allowed to park there. there are no no parking signs in the middle of kibble park but people know not to park there.

i don't have no sympathy, but it sounds like you've got away with parking in a no parking spot for a while and now your luck's run out, and you'll have to park somewhere legit like the rest of us.

by 'madly trying to cover the cost' - i thought the figure was in the papers, so was above board. certainly not a good look, but no worse than the average person's super fund.

Hi,  Along with many others I got a parking ticket at the Roar match on Feb 6th. I was parked where I regularly park, on the nature strip of the road that leads on to the Pacific Highway the Sydney side of the Bridge. I've elected to go to court with this charge because I don't feel I was parked illegally. Is anyone else doing the same? I know everyone around me got a ticket. It would be good to pool resources if there is anyone else. I just see this as a cynical attempt for Gosford Council to raise some cash.

Cheers

Malcolm.

If my memory serves me right, a few people got done in various parts of gosford.

Your problem is likely to be that parking on a verge is probably an offence regardless of the time of day and they just chose to enforce it.

Oooh, ok....so that's why I couldn't reply...anyway.

Yeah...it's a nature strip. Not a car park...

Or, do the lazy thing and move within walking distance. It's what I did.

Soz, made a hash of merging topics (and then splitting out irrelevant posts). Apologies if anyone lost a mega-cool and relevant post.

Great response you guys, thanks for it all. The bit that got me arsey is not that the council claim it's a nature strip but that they are saying the offence was 'stop on path/strip in built up area'. It just isn't a built up area. I'm tasting humble pie all ready.
