Maradona is the greatest individual player to EVER play the game in my opinion.  There have been players that have better fitted in the team environment/structure ie Pele and Messi.

At his best Maradona could win any game anywhere at his worst he could destroy team morale, destroy his countries morale, hopes and spirit.  Maradona is Argentina!! a poor cousin, He is there HERO but is also there villian..Thats why they love him so much11

When Maradona went to Naples it was like going home to Argentina.. They adored him!! Still do..

After Italia 90 they wanted him out, particularly after his comments during the national anthems. The Mafioso in Naples new of his drug habits and were desperate to expose these problems to the Italian Media...They eventually did and the rest is history...
