What people's thoughs on the "dadi" of perth
Talk To Me - Dadi PERTH Glory hitman Eugene Dadi wants to stay on in the A-League...but his club won't talk to him yet about extending his contract into next season.
The 35-year old French/Ivory Coast star has set the league alight this year after finally arriving at Glory following a delayed start to his Australian career.
He was due to join the club last year but transfer problems prevented his arrival - but since joining Perth he quickly established himself as the number two striker in the league.
He's already notched up eight strikes to his name - just one behind leading hitman Shane Smeltz and equal with his junior team-mate Nikita Rukavytsya.
The pineapple express has proved a huge hit with fans for his talent in front of goal combining with charisma - and his distinctive hairstyle.
But so far his pleas for a new contract for next year have been stonewalled by Glory.
Now he's warned he may look elsewhere if Perth don't make him an offer.
"I love it in Australia and I love the A-League," he said today. "I want to stay and I want a new contract but so far I've heard nothing.
"I want to start talking sooner rather than later. Sooner is better."
He added: "I'm happy with my situation that I seem to be the first overseas striker at the club to be reasonably good.
"But we will see what the club wants to do. If Perth Glory don't want me then I could see myself at another club in Australia. There are other possibilities.
"For the moment though I am committed to the club until the end of my contract."
Dadi has settled well into the Australian way of life since arriving at Perth from Israeli club Hapoel Acre which failed to release him in time to join Glory last season.
The 186cm star is enjoying his richest vein of form since his days at Tranmere Rovers when he scored 28 goals from 86 appearances between 2003 and 2005.
With eight goals already this season, Dadi looks like he still has plenty more to come and is at the centre of Perth's attack now.
"At first I didn't think I could come to Australia and be so far away from Europe," he admitted today.
"But now I'm here it's great and I wish I'd come here earlier. I'm really enjoying the A-League."
He conceded Perth's second bottom league position has been the lowpoint of his experience Down Under.
"I"m disappointed and frustrated by this season," he said. "I expected the team to do better, but it's not over yet.
"But whatever happens, I'm hoping to extend my stay in Australia at the end of my contract with Perth.
"I just want to do the best I can for Perth and talk about things later."
Glory coach Dave Mitchell said the club would wait until closer to the end of the season before beginning talks on extending Dadi's contract.
