ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

My theory on Pepsi Max and Coke Zero.

It's manly diet soft drinks. Its pretty much the same thing (TBH, I can't taste a difference between diet and zero)...but just marketed differently.

But original Coke ftw.

Pepsi is ok...but ONLY out of a can and has to be cold....makes me weird, no?

Nope not weird, always tastes different out of a can than a bottle, and even worse out of pre-mix

Coke pre-mix is amazing, and the ultimate hangover cure....

(Well, kind of. When you wake up and wanna throw up, and your too chicken like I am to stick your fingers down your throat....quickly swallow bubbly coke from maccas, and your guarenteed to throw up...it's amazing.....but when sipped slowly...tis a good cure too)

Diet Coke has this awful industrial solvent flavour which Coke Zero doesn't have. Ergo, Coke Zero tastes better but in my experience Pepsi Max is sweeter- Pepsi has always been less acidic than Coke anyway.

There's also TaB, which was Coca-Cola's original diet Cola which was pushed into the background by the introduction of Diet Coke in 1982. But TaB never went away- it's still produced in the US by several bottlers and has a fanatical cult following. Coca-Cola never rarely "cancels" a product outright- they may no longer actively market a product line, but the bottlers in the US have autonomy with what they want to produce. Hence, TaB survives, and apparently Coke executives

This was also the time Coca-Cola was losing market share to Pepsi- by the early 80s McDonalds and other fast food stores sales were all that kept Coke ahead in the sales race. Pepsi had been on the rise ever since the mid-60s- the merger with Frito-Lay back then gave it a huge advantage in terms of marketing and distribution. That's what led to the whole "New Coke" fiasco- and when the new formula was put on the market people rebelled.

Anyway, I find that the best soft drinks out there aren't made by Coke or Pepsi, but by smaller, independent, less-known companies. They're a dime a dozen in the US (see here) and there's a few of them in Australia too. Often they use better- and actually healthier- ingredients than the corporate brands.
