Gold Coast United club chairman Clive Palmer is rushed to hospital

October 11, 2009

Gold Coast United club chairman Clive Palmer is reflecting on United's 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar on Sunday from a hospital bed.

After collapsing during the final stages of his clubs win, Palmer was taken to nearby Wesley Hospital hospital for precautionary reasons.

With Brisbane Roar coach Frank Farina suspended from the game after being charged for an alleged drink-driving incident, United sealed the win over Roar with a Joel Porter goal in the 31st minute.

Gold Coast United CEO, Clive Mensink says Palmer is doing well and will remain in hospital overnight for observation.

During our chat at the hospital Clive said he was well and it was just a case of heartburn. He was more concerned with the performance of Gold Coast United, saying he was very proud of the way the team performed today.

Further statements will be issued as required, however, we respectfully ask that Clive and his family be allowed their privacy until further information comes to hand.
