I think chat needs to exist.  You don't want to record some of the drivel on the forum that goes on in the chat room.

You noticed it too?!?    Many a time now it's just been Adz and myself in there nerding it up, and BAM, 5 people join in 2 minutes flat.  Inevitably it turns into a series of "ya mum" and "that's what she said" jokes, before Fish comes in and swears like a drunken sailor on shore leave.  Then Mick comes in and is all proper about his chatting, correct grammar, asking chat like questions, then Perm comes in and protests he hates the place and it's the gayest thing in the world to do on a Saturday evening, but mysteriously doesn't leave.  Etc. and so forth. 

Ahhhhhhh, the joys of chat.
