TRAFFIC travelling north on the F3 Freeway is in gridlock after a truck carrying bourbon burst into flames.
The truck driver first noticed smoke coming out of the trailer of his B-Double truck as he was approaching Mount White, near the Brisbane Water National Park, about 11.15am.
The chaos comes as motorists win free travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge due to a toll workers' strike.
"The driver pulled his truck over to the side of the road. By the time he had done this the trailer had caught alight,'' RFS Inspector Ben Shepherd said.
Insp Shepherd said the alcohol content of the bourbon meant the fire would burn quickly.
However police are now anticipating a cleanup which could take hours.
Gosford Inspector Nigel Webber said police had sent a bobcat and a dump truck to remove the debris from the road.
``We're hoping this will all be cleaned up before this afternoon's peak hour,'' Insp Webber said.
``But there will be a disruption to traffic for some time.''
All four northbounf lanes were initially closed, however police are hoping to open one northbound lane within the next hour.
Insp Webber said the truck driver was not hurt during the fire.
