First up Brisbane are a very good side. VERY good.
For me, after taking in all their brilliant passing, awesome shape, pressure, runs off the ball etc etc etc, they seem to win games off the back of spectacular efforts on goal too often. Tonight they are 2 goals up off of a left foot voley from a DM delivered from wide and a left foot strike outside the area with 3 defenders on 1 striker. Don't get me wrong they are by far the better side tonight but for alot of other teams those speccys just dont go in often.
This is not just a one off either. Go back to games where Brisbane have looked like loosing or being kept to a draw and its often a speccy that gets them out of trouble. Our game up in Brisbane this year or our last game in Gosford as proof.
Is it something Postecoglou is doing, has he recruited good strikers of the ball, is it a training method, or is it just plain luck?
I'm thinking its a bit of all 3 and is the main difference between our clubs ATM. When is the last time you saw an absolutley spectacular goal from the Mariners. That 1 in 100 strike that drops your jaw and plays over in your mind days after.
I think this is what its going to take to beat this team. A rub of the green on a speccy, a volley hit perfectly, a strike with shape that just eludes the keepers grasp. A bit of Brisbane luck.
