With Jedi being called to the national squad I was wondering who is the best side Australia could ever put out.
Here is my best all time Australia side with a seven man bench and those I through unluckily not to be in the squad.
Bosnich-
Neill (capt)- Zelic Joe Marston - Harry Williams
-Cahill-Okon CrinoKewell
BaartzDukes
Bench
Goal Keeper: Schwarzer
Strikers: Abonyi, Fraina
Mids: Griller, Culina
Backs: Tobin , Moore
Coach Guus Hiddink
Found hard to leave out but on balance they could not make my side:
Milan Ivanovic, Robbie Salter, Craig Johnston, Peter Wilson, John Warren, Jim Rooney, John Aloi$i
Some reasoning on why I picked some players I never saw that much of.
Joe Marston Joe Marston judged by the British as their 57 best all time import, this vote was taken in 2008, meaning it was over 50 years from when he played, and he played in defence a spot hard to be remembered as its the strikers and attacking mids who normally hog the media and that his club Preston North has not been in the top division for yonks maybe 30 years and yet he is still remembered as this good As an aside Marston was by a long way the oldest player on the list adding more to the mystery of this man career, very sad so little is know of him but in England he is considered among our greatest sportsman ever
Abonyi, rated by Les Murry in 2004 as the best player he had ever seen in Australia and the way Les went on about him. He is in my side.
Harry Williams similar story to Abonyyi but Johnny Warren rated him the best left back we have ever had... so go with their knowledge.
Baartz considered by many as our greatest player ever and butchered by a Uruguay defender. He got us to the world cup and because of a karate chop by the Uruguay defender his career was over.
