After Australia's involvement in this world cup there was obviously disappointment in the loss to Germany as well as the refereeing decisions though some positives have come from South Africa.
Luke Wilkshire - Has continuously shown he is among Australia's best and has proven yet again in this world cup. Always solid at the back and generally one of our greatest attacking threats. At 28 years of age i'd be surprised if we don't see Ratboy in Brazil.
Carl Valeri - When Grella has been looking shaky and is not getting any younger Valeri has been waiting patiently and has finally gotten a chance in Australia's midfield. He took he chance wonderfully, especially in the Ghana match, and continually broke up the African's play as well as putting through wonderful balls to our front men.
Brett Holman - Without doubt Australia's best player throughout this world cup. This man has been under so much criticism in the last few years and everyone was hoping he would not make it even into the final 23. Given his chance through Cahill's suspension he proved that he was up to the standard and scored a cracker against Serbia. Would be disappointed if we don't see him starting in Brazil.
These 3 men have in my opinion been our greatest players throughout this world cup and are also the future of Australia. Lucas Neill was magnificent but he now is 32 and will be 36 before the next world cup. I would not expect to see him there unfortunately along with Kewell, Grella, Emerton, Schwarzer, Bresciano and Chippers.
Thank god Moore will finally retire before then...
Though although all of these players are getting older and will be retiring i'm looking up to our up and coming stars. In my opinion, our 2014 starting line up will be:
Federici
Wilkshire Beauchamp Ogmonster R.Williams
Valeri
Cahill Holman
Vidosic T.Oar
Rukavytsya
Bench:
Vukovic,
Heffernan,
Jedinak,
Scott McDonald,
Carney,
Carle.
I understand this wouldn't be others preferred XI, so please tell me (based on current form) who you'd like to see in Brazil 2014.
