ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Yorke for the pr alone.

(not sure Gumps counts as an HAL import though does he? Played in the NSL)

i guess but he is still an international player

finally retired

Juninho by far....he made Brosque look like a good player.....it was that thug from the LA Galaxy who stopped him showing just how good he was.

Fred by a country mile. Nobody has had more influence or creativity going forward.

Don't want to go off topic (apologies) but the best player in the HAL in the first four seasons for me is Craig Moore. An absolute colossus of a centre half for Queensland and without him they are rooted far more than without Miller. He is so important to them.

I am overlooking Fred due to the fact he only lasted a year and it would have been great to see how he went the second year in a melbourne team playing crap. The fact they finished outside the 4 in V3 elevated the status of Fred, and everyone said the reason for their form was due to Fred leaving.

I reckon it would be Song. Not expensive, young, and skill on the ball is absolutley outstanding. Brings a dimension to the A-League we will not see in our youngsters for a few yrs yet.

Has been able to shine in a league that is not suited to his style of football, in a team that is really a heap of shite. (couldn't resist)

It's hard for me to say:
Fred- for reasons listed above.
Fernando Rech- Adelaide United would've been poorer without him.
Milton Rodriguez- one of the best-credentialled imports this league has had, a full international with a decent record wherever he's been.
Carlos Hernandez- he's getting there.
Charlie Miller- his splendid talents are well above what most of his teammates or the league is capable of.
Song- isn't quite there yet, and the Jet may not hold onto him before he becomes what he's capable of.

BrisRecky

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
yeh I like the tubby scot...good ole charlie miller.....should be wearing yellow!!!!

Milton - best ever Jets player bar Nicky

Still cant belive they did not do more to keep him. If only because he was a cult hero of gumps proportions. That said i cant belive we were going to get rid of gumps. I think the a-league needs to start to build up players as much as clubs. Players like gumps and danny are ideal for promotion of the mariners. You can add wilko and Jedi to that too. They should be in the ads rather than some guys back. I know players move on, but for the year they are very likely to stay the way through. And it is not that hard to take another photo if they leave.

Top post.

It's no wonder crowds go down when people can't connect with their would-be heroes. On the Coast the boys get out in the community and schools so much that they have built up their image bit by bit, but the league with its robots and 'back of guy' ads hasn't helped.

Jesus has a good point- Archie Thompson, for one, has been one of the best marketing tools Melbourne and the league generally has had. He is an instantly recognisable face in Melbourne, and has always delivered on the park.
