July 21, 2009 Spanish side Villarreal have begun their preparations for the coming domestic season in some style, hammering minnows Navata 27-0 in a friendly.

Striker Jonathan Pereira scored seven of his side's goals, while his fellow forwards Joseba Llorente and Ruben Marcos each bagged four.

What will have given Villarreal real heart was that their new coach played eleven different players in each half. Having lost their former manager Manuel Pellegrini to Real Madrid in the off-season, this was the ideal start for their new mentor Ernesto Valverde.

Villarreal finished last season's La Liga campaign in fifth place, missing out on a place in the Champions League on the final day of the term.
